RPS’ masterplanners produced designs for a new 6km2 industrial city, Almarkaz, with c.2.2 million m² of industrial development.
Almarkaz accommodates a mix of floor space options, from small and light manufacturing units to larger storage and warehouse facilities.
Phase I will feature 220,000 m² of warehouses, 285,000 m² of light industrial units, 90,000 m² of small light industrial units, 19,000 m² of commercial space, and 5,000 m² of office space.
Movement around and to the new city is facilitated by a central bus interchange with bus stops located around the industrial park.
Almarkaz also includes a range of worker and low cost housing accommodation for its 28,000 residents. Included in the residential zone is a 14,000 m² retail mall, a 7,500 m² leisure centre with indoor courts, swimming pool, social centre, library and learning facilities.
Almarkaz is designed to be fully managed with c.13,000 m² of management, medical and security facilities.
RPS submitted and obtained concept and retail planning approvals from the Urban Planning Council and commenced building permit applications.
